Enter the Fat Dragon

This was a fun movie not because it was good but because of Donnie Yen. It was fun to see him make fun of his image and his previous movies. He seemed to be having a good time and that rubbed off on me. The fight are fun and brutal in a cartoony way.

Very loud, very funny, very Wong Jing. Irreverent, old-school, madcap action comedy doesn't care about your feelings, or anything else other than putting as much action as it can on screen. Watching Donnie Yen scale buildings fighting countless Yakuza while wearing a goofy looking fat suit is a sight to behold. Why they had to steal the title from an old Sammo Hung pic is beyond me - but also very Wong Jing.

Way more complex than I expected, with more action too. The tone was jarring at times, with how fast they swap from brutal violence to silly antics

The crazy mix of comedy, Kung-Fu fighting, romance, and corruption makes this entertaining and fun. The crazy antics are mixed with plenty of solid fighting sequences and good clever choreography. The action is fast-paced and the sometimes bombastic soundtrack is mostly good. It is satisfying on many levels, especially for Kung-Fu fans. There are many twists and turns, and silly antics to pepper the experience. I enjoyed almost all of it, except the gunplay.
