Elmer, the Great

Joe E. Brown in his typical style of happy feel-good comedies. Here he is a small town baseball star refusing to join the big leagues even if they've already bought his contracts. He just loves to be home getting spoiled by his mother being able to sleep until 2pm in the "morning" instead. There is no one like Joe E. Brown and his lovely hick-face and the movie does what it sets out to do. Good fun and nothing more.
