It looses little by little when you see that it does not follow your expectations.

The pacing borders on boring, just barely being entertaining enough to keep you interested. The performances are a large reason as to why it works. Dolan proves to be as talented an actor as he is a director, and Greenwood gives one of his best performances. It’s not an absolute must see, but it’s worth renting.

A lovely bit of character study with great acting and framing.

It's a tense cat-and-mouse game between a mentally ill but highly intelligent young man and the psychiatric staff trying to discover the whereabouts of a missing colleague. The central trio, played by Xavier Dolan, Bruce Greenwood, and Catherine Keener, are well-cast, more than capable of handling the loaded dialogue they must quickly spit out. Kudos also to the cinematography, which employs inventive framing to keep the visuals as interesting as the story.
