El rey de todo el mundo

It's not particularly compelling as a whole, but there are pleasures along the way, namely some excellent dance numbers--a mixture of traditional, ballet, and modern dance elements. The movie-about-making-a-theater-piece "plot" is familiar Saura territory, but this isn't one of his better takes on it--too many telenovala-esque melodramatic plot devices. But as always with Saura, it's great to look at--his eye for the shot set-up is infallible, as is his instinct for combining music and images.
