It's a touching film, and how could it not be given what it's about, however to be honest, I'm not quite sure if that is down to the approach or simply the subject itself. The presence of the priest is a very convenient way to establish a rather familiar conflict, and the plot twist is also far from original. The character work is arguably a little simple as well, however there is humanity to the characters. Moreover, it's notable that the trope of showing the death on the deathbed is avoided.
