Follows the tried-and-true conventions of the 'sports redemption' and 'reformer priest' subgenres, but still well played. One can tell the production was convicted by both angles while filming, and it enhances the film through some pacing issues, which start to lean into tedium. It's a fascinating Catholic film, especially as its characters start to rip the Band-Aid off some serious dogma.
