El Diputado

The three principals (Sacristán, Alonso, and San José, the almost unbelievably understanding wife) do wonderful work, aided by some very good writing--sterling examples of the "less is more" approach to acting. A tale of intrigue, simply told--one feels real compassion for these all-too-human characters. Filmed in recently-post-Franco Madrid, the look of the movie is real '70's, which only adds to its immediacy and charm.
