Édes mostoha

Édes mostoha [Sweet Stepmother] (1935) has some interesting child friendly nightmare sequences, some sweetness too, for it is essentially a children's movie. But with sporadic English subtitles, choppy editing and rough print, the experienced silent director Béla Balogh's first sound feature is a bit hard to appreciate. Just got to pick out the creative bits and pieces that's of interest and throw the rest in the bin.
