In public, Vic Allen puts up with his wife Mélanie's amorous games, showing an outward attitude of acceptance. However, he scares away one of her prospective lovers by telling the poor guy that he killed one of his predecessors. In fact, he did not, and soon the actual perpetrator is found. Later, when Vic feels that Mélanie is becoming too seriously involved, he actually resorts to murders. Despite her ever-increasing suspicion, Mélanie finds it impossible to prove his guilt.

Vítima por Testemunha estreava há 40 anos na França. Esse filme me lembrou muito Trama Fantasma, pelo contrato social perverso entre o casal protagonista, mas se não chega a ser uma obra-prima como o filme de Anderson, é uma tremenda jornada com grande mérito, especialmente pela presença estupenda de Huppert e Trintignant. Plus: Tava para sair uma versão do livro da Highsmith dirigido pelo Adrian Lyne (yikes) com o Affleck e a Ana de Armas, faça um favor a si mesmo e assista esse Deville primei
