By far the most depressing documentary I've ever seen. I even had to cry, and I never cry during films or docs. Yes you can call me a wimp, but I really was moved. How can mankind be so cruel. Why is it unethical to kill a human being, but it's not when you kill an animal in such a cruel way. This world is so fucking corrupt.

Touhing, I was crying, I can not understand how people can be so cruel and ignorant. But the only thing I did not like was the last sentence: it was spacism. But anyway, film which everybody HAVE TO SEE

Yeah, footage of animals being killed is sad, but two hours of footage of animals being killed isn't a good documentary. Besides, after about ten minutes it becomes numbing, so what's really the point?

"The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality." my darling Schopenhauer

Unrateable. No scores can describe this one.
It's a relentless torture of the viewer. Propaganda film turned up to 11. Undebatable. Don't expect objectivity, thoroughness or even any kind of answer. This film's only objective is to shout so loud that the message is smashed into your brain forever. Watching this film felt like a truck run over me so I guess mission accomplished.

Propaganda film from frame one. Within the first 2 minutes we see images of hitler, the KKK and comparisons to rape and sexism backed with dark music juxtaposed to loveliest, furriest little bundle of cuteness we can imagine. The rest is just isolated video clips of people torturing and mutilating animals. Oh you mean to tell me needless torture is bad? What an original fucking concept. Look to Our Daily Bread (2005) for a more objective portrayal of industrial agriculture.

Godwin's Law is penetrated within the first five minutes, as expected. The flick becomes very repetitive, as expected. The imagery is shocking, as expected. Look -- it's not like I'm completely without empathy on the subject. Do I believe in animal experimentation? No. Do I believe in bullfighting, seal hunting, or even circuses? No. Do I believe in the way that, past or present, animals have been abused for food, fur & science? No. But will this make me vegan? No. Push for industrial change.

I probably agree with 70% of what the documentary is advocating and still the tone was so aggressive and unrelenting, and the content so lacking in context, that I was put off to the message. How can something like this hope to be eye opening to anyone if it needs you to already be fully committed to its message. As such, it's a failure not only as a document, but also as a propagandistic tool. It's one thing to frame a debate, it's another to bypass the debate altogether.

Nicknamed "the vegan maker", this is an almost unwatchably harrowing portrayal of the cruelties inflicted upon Earth's sentient life by its fellow earthlings. As a film, it isn't particularly well-crafted or artistic -- as a piece of incendiary journalism, it is imperative to the self-realization of humanity.

Definitely got that Faces of Death vibe going for it. Really grotesque and haunting footage.

The overall message is good, informative and necessary. There is a lot of horrific imagery of suffering, pain and cruelty. The monologue is monotonous and delivered with little emotion, which becomes tiresome and boring by the end. They covered a lot of ground, but I feel that the effects on human health and the health of the planet was shabbily handled. Still this is a movie that everyone should see, because the message is important and relevant.

Because of the brutality of the images and some over-simplification haters just calling fallacy fallacy and hiding behind tone arguments. Shame because covers a lot of ground and does a good deal of it right.

how can one rank a movie like this? It's everything we already know, too much shocking views, too little arguments, but it speaks for its self. Like I said - we already know it and as far as I see it, it could just have been plain soundless. Review's not necessary - not that you're going to forget this film.

Even though it supports a good cause, it's ultimately just pure propaganda. Shocking facts accompanied by ridiculous lies and non-arguments.

Animal exploitation is certainly an awful thing, and the point that humans are disgustingly immoral in this regard is undeniable. However, many of the arguments and points made in this film are flawed and, in my opinion, actually serve as a disservice to the cause. Strident and misleading affronts are very effective at switching people off from listening completely. Still, I fully acknowledge that people should be aware of all of these issues, and I'm a vegetarian myself.

I care very much about animal rights and think eating animals is wrong. White and middle class? Why, yes actually, why do you ask? Seriously though, no one is going to argue against this film's point (torturing=bad), but rarely do I come across a documentary so manipulative, misleading, and at times, outright dishonest.

Illustrates why you either need to become a vegetarian or, like myself, have to be very careful where you obtain your animal products from. The film itself ends up being rather repetitive by the end and it comes as no surprise that it was developed in chunks as the same points are clumsily brought up over and over and over again. Still the imagery is shocking and really drives home why eating as McDonalds or the like should be avoided at all costs.
