Totally ridiculous. This movie could've been called The Patriot Act for Dummy's. I can't help but think how much ADD medication and/or speed the writers of this movie were on. Man, Spielberg has been apart of some mediocre shit lately.

Arthur C. Clarke once wrote "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". The writers of this movie had no idea how technology actually works so made it function like magic and it's adorably stupid. Generic action-thriller fluff otherwise. Considering the shitshow that is politics in the year 2017, the villain's ultimate plan in this didn't actually sound so bad.

Might have been something of a near-decent movie if it contained perhaps one solidly original idea. The film is a rehash of more films than I can count, but most prominently: 2001: A Space Odyssey, North by Northwest, Terminator 3, The Man Who Knew Too Much and so on. Also, the absolute absurdity of the plot made it lose any sense of paranoia or excitement. Billy Bob Thorton was fun though, and I guess there's a few suspenseful moments. Overall, kind of a waste.

Shia wears precisely one expression on his face for the whole running time of Eagle Eye, a sort of bewildered look of confusion as stuff blows up around him for about 2 hours. The big twist is so obvious that it's a huge let down, especially after sitting through such a painful buildup. There is also some bad shaky cam in parts: there's a car chase scene that lasts about 5 minutes, and I have no idea what was going on during any of it.

Eagle Eye is pretentious, hysterical and implausible. It's a paranoid thriller that can't bring in what the plot promises, that is, some insightful dialogues and scenes. What the hell Steven Spielberg was thinking when he signed up for this?

The premise is far fetched, but developed correctly it could make for an interesting and provocative movie. Sadly, that's not what we get, instead we get tons of ridiculous action and a plot that quickly becomes predictable because we've seen it all before. Even as an action movie it falls rather flat, as the action pieces rely heavily on stuff blowing up in implausible proportions. Not quite terrible, but not really worthwhile either.

Part Matrix, part Minority Report, and part post 9-11 political thriller, Eagle Eye delivers some intense themes, as well as exciting if not completely logical action sequences. There were holes, to be sure... and as frightning as the concept was, it's still beyond comprehension. Still, not a bad movie. I feel I got my money's worth of entertainment.

For the third time in a row, I find myself enjoying a D.J. Caruso movie in spite of myself. The direction is solid and the excitement intensifies throughout (although there is one car chase that tries too hard to ape Paul Greengrass's style and ends up bordering on incomprehensible). The thing about Eagle Eye is, once the "secret" of its premise is revealed, it establishes the rules of the concept, and then doesn't break them. Although I'll admit the crane scene is kind of pushing it.

"Eagle Eye" strains every inch of credibility, and that's its downfall because DJ Caruso otherwise does a great job reeling in the audience in a sort-of "Enemy of the State" chase thriller with fantastic high-speed pursuits and all the impressive kabooms. Shia LaBeouf, still young for a leading man, does well even if he has zip chemistry with his co-star. The final reveal has been done before looking back to as recent as 'I, Robot,' so while it's always eye-popping, it's never mind-popping.

Eagle Eye is a bad version of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I thought LaBeouf did a pretty good job. This movie reminded me that he really is a good actor. Even in this poorly scripted and dull thriller he did a good job. The rest of the casting was good as well. I enjoyed parts of this movie but it isn't something that I would recommend to anybody or watch if I saw it on TV again. There were some satisfying parts but overall it was pretty dull.

Hilarious--although it probably wasn't intended to be (it really is difficult to be sure, though). Once the action starts, every step is so ludicrous that, in truth, all one can do is laugh. And once it does start, you pray that Monaghan is reunited with her son immediately because she keeps... talking, and everything she says is idiotic. At least her son would give her someone to talk to with a similar level of intellect.

Possesses the admirable intention of thematising the distressingly science-fictional aspects of defence and security technology, as well as of the juridical technology behind phenomena such as the Patriot Act, but takes the fictional side to such wildly flamboyant lengths that it offends most viewers' expectations of a film bearing the marks and signs of belonging mainly to the suspense/thriller genre (whereas audiences tend to be relatively more tolerant of complete absurdity in generic SF).

A loose adaptation of Asimov's short-story 'All the troubles of the world', a Multivac tale it reminded me lightly and seems to be the main idea (mis)used by the team. The movie is not too bad, it's entertaining, but it seems to have unnecessary action for what it tells and it's more interested in that than any of the implications of what it's happening deeply, something the short-story did. So another wasted sci-fi movie, and another short-story you should read if you haven't.
