Like jerking off and watching porn out of boredom: Starts off bad but you know it'll get better and you'll be more engaged with the characters before you're done. Ultimately it will end and you'll be somewhat disappointed that you wasted 2 hours of your life. Unlike this movie however, a lazy wank won't leave you slightly embarrassed about what you watched when your were twelve.

if you've watched the original in your teens like I have, the only thing you see is how old they are, and you can't laugh at any of the same jokes any more, and then you realize you're 20 years older, too, and it just pretty much ruins your day.

I hate going home for the holidays. I somehow always end up getting stuck at a party with friends from my past. It's sad, when you realize that you longer have anything in common. They're still laughing at the same old jokes and pulling the same old pranks, but what I used to love, I now find annoyingly childish and stupid. It's not their fault. Time just passed them by. I wanted to like this movie, but sadly it was like going home for the holidays.

While it might not be the sequel of our dreams -- maybe too many "hey, remember how great this was in the original!" speeches --, it pays off in so many moments -- the absurd gags that begin and end this, the absolutely brilliant dream sequences -- that it turns out to be just another honest take on disability by the most underrated American auteurs of the last twenty years. But To also plays like a band reunion -- it satisfies, but makes you depressed.

Somewhere along the way, the filmmakers forgot that Harry and Lloyd were actually lovable characters, not racist, misogynist perverts. There's a funny movie in there somewhere, but a few too many truly dumb gaffes prevent it from being anything but disappointing.

“Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!” I wish this was the case. They turned the characters mean and unlike able. Same problem with the extended cut of the first film, too mean spirited and feels wrong.

Suspect there’s a nostalgia bone being tickled here, but this is a surprisingly well done (often times hilarious) sequel that gains momentum from a terrific cast; Carrey and Daniels slip easily into their old winning chemistry, but it’s the consistently funny turns from the support cast that help this soar, especially Turner who seems to relish having great fun with the sum total of her 30 years of iconography. It all works very well, even through a forgivable loss of steam during the last act.

the beginning of the film is incredibly weak. The lines are so poor, so scripted, and nothing like the original. What is most concerning is that the two actors agreed to do it. They don't seem to want it all. They say the lines like they're inferring that "i'm too old for this shit". Basically, I think it's bad directing.

the only thing this gets straight is neglecting the existence of the prequel by advertising itself as part 2 instead of 3. my advice on how to watch this: hit play, hit mute, start contemplating random aspects of your life, where you come from, where you're going. your expectations for yourself, existence and the logic of it. do this until you see the credits roll. then stop. congrats! you have just watched "dumb and dumber to", but this way, you will not have wasted 2 hours of your life.

Other than a few chuckles (the cat farting feathers got a "heh" from someone near me), I saw this in a silent theatre, the first time I have ever had that experience. Lloyd comes across as an aggressive asshole in this film, without any of the likability or charm from the first film.

Unnecessary, for sure. Some (most?) of the gags are pretty frigging tired, in all honesty, although it does pick up in energy and inspiration as it goes, and if you're paying money to see a movie entitled DUMB AND DUMBER TO what the hell are you expecting. It's fine. Worth seeing once. I've probably seen the first one ten times, though, so there that is.

Don't get the hate for this. Don't like that the movie cops out on the daughter/father dynamic but this manages to be hilarious due to Carrey and Daniel's chemistry and how much they play with their idiotic sense of logic. Legit burst out laughing at the duo taking over the science conference or the wacky conclusions the leads come to regarding Cantonese. Sometimes the jokes are way too obvious, but fuck me if the general character of the film and how much it embraces that put a smile on me.

It's dumb but not nearly as funny. Also, it really turns these guys into total dicks. It feels like an episode of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia if the writers forgot that we're supposed to hate the characters. And also forgot that they had to be funny. Dumb and Dumberer is a worse movie in every way, but at least it wasn't cruel or mean-spirited. Quality and humor aside, I'd personally prefer the cannon that features the prequel and the original.

For the most part, this does not feel like a Farrelly brothers film apart from a few moments here and there. If you are looking to watch a follow up to the original film then you are better off watching 'Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd' in which Richardson and Olsen are more like the young Daniels and Carrey than are the actual Daniels and Carrey as their older selves in this film.

(Viewed on 05/15): D.A.D.T was a desperate move by Carrey/Farrellys who have struggled to remain relevant in the new millennium. Audiences have trouble accepting Carrey in mature roles, so he went back to the well to reprise a role he was too old for play. He still has chemistry with Daniels, but there are times where they appear to be portraying completely different characters, while a sizable portion of the jokes and cultural references are either recycled and/or outdated.

I don't understand why this era of redoing films has been so unsuccessful. Time and time again, I see a promising remake, sequel, or reboot with original casts, and I wonder how it could go wrong. Somehow, some way they have all fallen flat. This film isn't in the category of being bad, but it is luke-warm. It is like the coffee you think about spitting out because it is on the verge of being too cold.

While Dumb and Dumber To wasn't amazing by any means, I believe that there was definitely some love that went into this film. Carrey and Daniels reprise some solid roles even though the script and humor don't always land. Really, it's not as bad as a lot of people said as its never horrible, it just fails as a comedy for not ever being overly funny.

Prime example of a sequel that came out way too late and failed miserably to understand what was working in the original film. It's hard to believe that the Farrelly bros were digging comedic gold in the 90's. What was funny back then, is now just mean. Daniels seems to have aged better - or maybe his age is easier to hide under Harold's look, but Carrey is just too old for the part and some jokes feel really awkward because of that.

Really poor. Surely these characters have more mileage in them than just repeating similar scenarios and gags from the first film? Also the writing was so weak - huge swathes of the film are pancake flat with zero narrative tension. Largely unfunny jokes, and a fair bit too long. A big disappointment (like most Farrelly films since D&D).

The writing here couldn't be more contrived; cringe-worthy joke set-ups (rarely laugh-inducing) dominate the film's comedy landscape that's filled out by obviously desperate attempts at recreating the original's outrageous visual/situational humour, while the plot's movements are painfully stiff. There are good moments (the final twists are great) and the then/now slideshow in the end credits is remarkably redeeming, but up until then the film mostly fails to hit its mark.

This wasn't as bad as I feared it might be, but it's not good. The plot is fine, as these things go, and Carrey and Daniels are likable and fall back into their old characters pretty well. But it simply just isn't very funny. There were a couple of mildly funny jokes, but nothing truly hilarious, and the callbacks to the original felt forced. It's just a nostalgia cash-in, to be sure, but I do think everyone involved could've tried a little harder.

I am a huge fan of the original film. So it is really disappointing that this one is not any where close to the original comedy classic. There are some funny moments but there are far fewer ones than in the original film. Jim Carrey has the most funny moments in this one. Overall I would say watch the original instead of this sequel.

Pretty bad, but it's not quite the catastrophe many have made out. The script is weak and the whole thing runs out of steam well before the end. It's also somewhat of a shame that the essence Harry and Lloyds characters from the genuinely funny first film is lost, becoming a little too mean spirited. But I nearly pissed my pants laughing when Carrey threw the banana skin into the coffin, so I just can't hate it.

Lloyd comes off as more of a jerk than just dumb. There are some decent jokes here, but it's nothing close to the comedic masterpiece that came before it. Feels like it needed a better editor, too. There were some jokes that seemed like they should have worked, but just fell flat because of timing.

I wouldn't say this was to funny but it was okay. I think the film had a consistent amount of laughs, but I never laughed so hard that tears started running down my face like some comedies have. Lloyd and Harry both look a lot older 20 years later but Rachel Melvin gives the movie a more youthful look. It's pretty crazy it took this long for a sequel and maybe it wasn't needed, but I felt like this movie was a reminder of a funny movie back in the 90's that had great music and good laughs...

I was able to sink into the dumbness and get a few genuine laughs in the latter half of the film (primarily the Ken Conference scenes), but overall it has a lot of dead stretches and the distinct whiff of too little too late. It's also noticeably more mean-spirited than the original. Mind you, I'm 100% down for mean-spirited comedy when I know it going in, but it was kind of surprising here, because that's never how I thought of Dumb and Dumber.

Dumb and Dumber To was a long belated sequel that I was skeptical to see. I love the original and initially I wasn't convinced we needed a sequel 20 years later. But I gave in to the temptation of seeing Harry & Lloyd together again. It's somewhat pleasing and nostalgic to see Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels return. But this decade plus late sequel just cheaply rips off old and dated gags. Scene for scene this all just feels too familiar. And ultimately I'd much rather of just watched the original.

I didn't expect much out of it, based on how I generally receive sequels and comedies in general, but I thought it was pretty hilarious. It felt, to me, a lot like the original. Same sense of humor, same atmosphere, same style of cringe-inducing gags and jokes, all without borrowing too much from the original. I think a lot of people watched this expecting a modernized sequel full of the same jokes they loved before, but what they got was an actual sequel. I thought it was pretty good.

It's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. If you don't go into it expecting it to live up to all of the fond memories you've built up for the original you should have a pretty good time. There's a lot of good sight gags, and some of the jokes worked really well. Honestly, some of the weakest stuff was when they were directly calling back to the first one. It's far better than "Stuck on You" or "Dumb and Dumberer."

Dumb and Dumber To honestly just feels like a 90 minute, big budget, parody video that would be on YouTube. The comedy isn't the only awful thing about this either, it's the fact that they changed the way the characters are, where Lloyd just seems more of an obnoxious asshole rather than actually dumb.
