The past is a riddle to our protagonist, but the entire timeline is a riddle to us, the audience, at least at first. I do wish Saura could have given us one or two more clues to help us get our bearings at first. Another one of Saura's meditations on the past and memory, with some arresting moments along the way. The Scarlatti sonata is lovely.
