Du Barry Was a Lady

Du Barry era um pedaço estreava há 80 anos em New York. Lucille Ball nunca esteve tão linda quanto nesse technicolor comandado pelo Karl Freund, não à toa ela o levou para fotografar seu I Love Lucy. Mas como bela fisionomia não salva filme nenhum (senão só o sorriso do Gene Kelly o salvaria todo), este não é dos grandes musicais da MGM que habitavam Hollywood dos anos 40, é bonitinho, com grande elenco, mas nada tão marcante. Just think you're Red Skelton and have Gene Kelly as support. Something is a little bit wrong with that. At least Kelly got to be the real hero in the courtship of Lucille Ball. A fun musical, though lacking the a little in the highlight department. This was still early in Kelly's career so this was more a showcase for Skelton's style of comedy, which was giggly enough. Especially when playing goofy to Lucy's elegance.

sadly it wastes the talent of skelton, but luckily the entirety of it is entertaining and it has a couple good dance numbers also. the plot is pretty solid, but the best part of this movie is dorsey's band which, by the way, has a fair amount of screen time.
