Essentially "Bring it On" without any hot rich girls, hot inner-city girls, or hot dance numbers...but there is a lot of posing with drumsticks.

Nothing in this movie is even close to accurate, and is insulting to anyone who ever was in a drumline/marching band. I did find some comedy in it, though.

If you stop to think about it, this movie is absolutely ludicrous. However, even though the shenanigans become repetitive and it's at least 20 minutes too long, the intoxicating energy on display is sort of contagious.

I don't know how you could seriously make a movie about "the world and culture" of marching band drummers. I mean, I saw this movie, but I don't think that counts. I'm still wondering how it could be properly done.

I wouldn't call this a "unique look at the world and culture of show-style marching bands ar America's black universities" like 20th Century Fox does. I'd call marching bands in a generic sports Hollywood tale. Entirely forgettable.

A pretty basic "All the Right Moves" storyline limits the real pleasure here -- watching these performers play the drums with amazing prowess and talent.

Proof that the underdog formula can stretch to anything - helped by likable performances from Cannon and Saldana, but they are hamstrung by bland, cookie-cutter characters and a screenplay that drags out its predictable, preordained finale beyond all reason. The performance sequences are executed with a fair if not exceptional degree of professionalism; one can't help but feel this is the ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN of inspirational "sport" movies.

A talented street drummer from Harlem starts to study at a university in the south of the country. He expects to help the college band to victories. However, he finds out that this requires more than just talent.

This movie has the beats and rhythm of an action movie disguised as an sports movie. Just replace action scenes with drumming scenes and it plays out really well. The final showdown is kinda cool. A ridiculous concept but it works.

I've got a soft spot for this particular piece of crap. Sure, almost nothing about it works but until Whiplash came out, there were very few films about college bands.

the film was a cookie-cutter genre film about the "world of a competitive sport" (i.e. bring it on, stick it, and any high school "football" movie you can imagine - except that it was about marching bands ... which in my opinion made it unintentionally hilarious.

If you ever wanted to know how to be a hard ass with drumsticks this movie teaches you. Just nail a kick ass solo, both both sticks in one hand, stick that arm's hand straight in front of you, and drop your sticks right in front of the sucker's face that you just schooled. Football players will still beat you up though.

Drum corps romanticized to an absurd and almost insulting degree. Take it from someone who's been there and back again multiple times: this film is about as relevant to drumming as Top Gun is to naval aviation.

Well shot film. Give me a break with this black urban youth BS. We're all human and we all feel the social strain from the rest of humanity. You can play drums? Well, I can run a mile in 5:20.

Enjoyable. I mean, I can't actually recall anything that happened in it -- but I do recall that it was a pleasant, if not stunning way to spend a rainy Sunday. What I *do* remember is the almost too-good-to-be-true drumming! The things these guys can do with their sticks (no double entendre intended!) is amazing!

Talented yet undisciplined youngster needs to learn how to be a part of the team in order to fully utilise his gifts, and a love interest from a different social class is thrown into the mix to complete the cliches. OK, so the plot is fairly conventional stuff but it's rescued by the musical numbers which are all pretty cool.
