Drop Zone

This movie is a lot of fun, if your idea of fun is the high stakes competitive world of parachuting. People jump, the yell, the parachute. It does contain a magically hilarious scene of Gary Busey screaming and plummeting through a truck window. Oh Shit. *SPOILERS*.

Another ridiculous action film from the early nineties - this time Wesley Snipes versus Gary Busey - which lacks action scenes but makes up for it with silliness. Its only recommended for those will cannot take it seriously and find it funny, but that doesn't mean the film is completely bad if it can put a grin on your face.

I remember literally nothing about this movie. It's got the skydiving but not the planes? That's passenger 57. No, this has the crazy guy in it. The one with the teeth. Yeah.

Extra points for originality. The script is fairly weak but the concept is awesome. It's got Wesley Snipes, great skydiving cinematography and that early-'90s action feel we know and love. Good music too.

Have a weak spot for this weak film. I've just seen it too many times growing up: Snipes vs. Busey! Go-go!

If you're a big Wesley Snipes action fan then you've enjoy this. It's got a couple of neat bits here and there but nothing memorable.

This was to skydiving, what "Point Break" was to surfing: Nothing!

Okay movie, just not great.

worth a watch

Viewed November 14, 2021. I was very surprised to learn that Terminal Velocity is the better of the two skydiving-themed action movies released in 1994. Drop Zone has a lot of skydiving in it. It's not integrated into the action scenes; rather, the movie has DEA agent Wesley Snipes going to skydiving competitions, ingratiating himself into the skydiving community, and doing a lot of low-stakes skydiving.

Surprisingly fun schlock. It's incredibly silly, but isn't that why you're here? Snipes is good.
