I'm a sucker for mid-western accents. And dead teens. And white cheddar macaroni and cheese. Two out of three ain't bad.

Surprisingly dark, and many orders of magnitude funnier than the Sandra Bullock vehicle Miss Congeniality which is similarly set in the world of beauty pageants.

Funny and dark, but not as dark as it could have been. I kept waiting for the turn, maybe a reveal that Dunst was behind it all, or a combination of them, so the ending felt cheapened. They really left a lot of possibilities on the table. Anyway, a lot of young talent and gorgeous ladies, especially Amy Adams. Loved all the Minnesota references. Fav scenes: creepy judge John Dough; the "retard" brother getting stuck at the truck and later we find out he escaped.

Remaking movies is almost always a bad idea, but I wouldn't mind this one being remade with a director whose grasp of the mockumentary format is, um, let's say stronger. The story could also lose some of the side plots and focus on the girls more. Delightful cast and some great moments throughout though. Janney is amazing in this.

Packed with lovely women, campy, silly, sometimes stupid but altogether fun. Kirsten Dunst is always great even with the silly Minnesota accent, and Denise Richards is a bad bad girl she but still shines. Brittany Murphy was the awesomely great nerd and Amy Adams was sweet as usual. Ellen Barkin wasn't given much to work with. The only character I did not like much was played by Kirstie Alley, but that's no surprise. Good light hearted, mostly silly, almost predictable fun, well worth watching.

It seems like this is going after that Christopher Guest-like mockumentary style, the difference is Guest makes us care about his caricatures. With the exception of Kirsten Dunst, that does not apply. I am surprised as most everyone else at having used Dunst as a positive element (something I haven't experienced since her bit in Interview with the Vampire), but damn it, it's true. Some mean-spirited humor and occasional laughs accompany this bafflement.

This is actually a very funny mockumentary-style movie that perfectly lampoons high-school stereotypes, beauty pageants, dysfunctional families, and other assorted targets. I liked it much more than I expected to. Plus it has Amy Adams as a total slut.

Weak satire is frustrating, because this cast and concept in the hands of say Christopher Guest might have spawned a mini-masterpiece – as it is, it's too obvious and surface-level to work as satire (beauty pageants are superficial meat markets, we get it!) and none of the characters are particularly likable which makes it difficult to become sincerely invested. Cast with a terrific eye right down the line however, with Janney a sardonically hilarious standout as always.

Drop Dead Gorgeous is an incredibly funny satire. It came out of left field for me. The casting is great and even when the Minnesota accent isn't perfect it is good enough that I want to believe it is perfect. There is just so much talent in this movie that it is so fun to see who is coming next and what will they do and say. I found myself laughing throughout and I don't generally laugh that much at movies so this one really hit the spot. I will enjoy watching this movie again.

With sharp black comedy, standout performances from a stacked ensemble cast, & themes that touch on how toxic & ridiculous beauty pageants often are, this is an underrated effort. Still, it's not without some issues. While the humor is pretty great at first, it feels tired by the end- much like the mockumentary gimmick- & borders on being plain mean-spirited. The third act plays like an awkward extended epilogue & screws up the flow. The ending isn't great. Flaws aside, it's still worth a look.

The satire is slathered on thick here, but the dark charm is undeniable. The cast is absolutely stacked with young talent and their are quite a few laugh out loud moments among a few jokes that haven't aged well. A forgotten gem of mockumentary.

High rating is because I saw Wesley Morris's review of this film comparing it with H. Korine's early work. Come on! This is pretty underrated and has so many fun moments. It also has historical relevance: the diagonally opposite version of Dunst's character in "Melancholia" (LOL Kirsten, we love you) and Amy Adams' first ever role. If it's not enough: Allison Jenney and Kirstie Alley are still young and successful in their roles. Allison Jenney is the shining star throughout the film, though.

Some really funny moments but it falters near the end. Even at only just over 90 minutes, it doesn't feel like it has enough material to sustain itself. While the final punchline is definitely a good laugh, there is a good 15 minutes leading up to it that is really unnecessary. The cast is mostly excellent, and I really wanted to see more of some of the smaller characters.

Like some other reviewers have said, I expected to hate this but it was much funnier than expected. The humour was unexpectedly dark and twisted in places, but it also had lighter offbeat moments. Kirsten Dunst was actually very watchable (again, a surprise for me) and the supporting cast is very good too. It doesn't have much depth, sure, but if you're just after 90 minutes of light, quirky comedy, you could do much worse.
