Some really over the top but still amusing fight scenes can't compensate for all the unnecessary drama and stupid flashbacks. Seriously, there's a flashback to dialogue from 40 seconds earlier in the movie. Amazing. Funniest moment is when one guy gets punched through about 30 floors of a tower construction in the basement of the weirdest villain hideout ever. That's one hell of a basement, son!

Unbelievably over-the-top kung-fu fights with some neat cinematography to boot. The final fight turns into a DBZ fest and is thus a bit of a let down but it's still a fun movie it you enjoy mindless, but sweet, ridiculously over the top action action.

This videogame-like fantasy martial arts film features some dazzling fight scenes in which athletic performers like Donnie Yen and Nicholas Tse defy the laws of physics, reinvent the art of the spinning kick, and trailblaze new trends in boyband hairstyles. Sadly, these spectacular moments are a brief flicker amid hours of nonsensical plot, random flashbacks and the kind of sappy melodramatic moping worthy of a Nicholas Sparks adaptation. Worth fast-forwarding the slow parts to watch the fights.

When the movie begins you think: FUCK yeah this is awesome! Then it becomes boring and cheesy and weird, what a disappointment

It starts a bit intriguing and like it would be some crime syndicate intrigue with characters more or less involved by accident and sharing a past. You think your main challenge is how dumb the emo mop haircuts and the phone product placement are. But suddenly it hit a point halfway through with some random evil wizard??? And everything mafia is never mentioned again, and there is bad CGI and psychedelic magic??? What the hell, what a waste

Dreadful. The story is random, incoherent and boring. The costumes make the actors look ridiculous, like a bad FF8 cosplay, making it even harder to take the film seriously. All my points are for the fighting, which is ok but not great. Effects and flashiness are fine when they enhance the fight scenes, but these, and the rapid cuts instead hide the fight. The final fight is also so one-sided that it's underwhelming and anti-climactic. An insult to HK kung fu cinema.

The script has some weak moments in this movie. But the fun action scenes make up for the script's short comings. Overall I would recommend this action movie.

Highly enjoyable, highly satisfying movie! The fight choreography is mesmerizing, the characters are a ton of fun, and the story is heartfelt and oftentimes very cathartic. Granted it can be overly cheesy and melodramatic at times, the villain is shamefully underdeveloped and the finale would have worked better if all three heroes worked together instead of just one after another, but it's still a vibrant, touching, and overall fun martial arts film!

The music score was good be prepared for fore-shadowed fight scenes

Surprisingly bland, considering all the good ingredients. There are some spectacular action shots, but the goodness in this film is interspersed with a lot of corny wire-fu.
