And so the class actor retires from the silver screen.... Academy Award winning actor George Arliss in his final film doing the story of Dr. Syn (1937). A former pirate, now a village parson in disguise still running his smuggling gang. This is a rather complex story and does get a little messy at times, but whenever it slows down and Arliss gets to do what he does best, then it's a most pleasant viewing. This is a varied British costume adventure and a fine exit for the grand old man.
