Dr. Rhythm

Okay, it's not exactly a cinematic masterpiece. But it earns its place in movie history for being the best movie vehicle that the great comedienne Bea Lillie ever got. Yes, "On Approval" is wonderful, and Lillie is wonderful in it, but Dr. Rhythm is her most quintessential turn. Worth viewing for the "Two dozen double damask dinner napkins" skit (with Franklin Pangborn!) alone.

We all know what Bing Crosby brings to a film. A blue eyed lover that sings. So I'm not gonna talk about him. There is another presence that needs hyping! Dr. Rhythm has a rare movie appearance by the great stage comedian Beatrice Lillie! And they say she was one of the funniest ladies on stage. And judging by this she probable was! Sadly the movie is a little all over the place trying to connect the two great acts into a coherent story, which it barely does.
