Eddie Murphy when Rated PG-13. Low brow laughs, or rather low brow very mild laughs, are delivered. If you're a serious Eddie Murphy fan or find animals given human qualities hilarious then give it a shot.

I watched this movie when I was a kid, the bad thing is: I still remember some of it. It has infested my brain with it's virus, consuming my braincells slowly. One day, it will activate something in my big ol' sponge and I will kill every life form on earth. I'm sure.. and I'm waiting.. And maybe my hate for 'acting' monkeys started here.. Who knows

The true beginning of family friendly Murphy, Dr.Dolittle finds the once edgy star looking awkward and unsure of himself as he attempts to make this ill-fated transition to the darkside. Low brow humour prevails, and hardly any of it is funny, and the talking animals gimmick grows old fast. For Murphy fans, it remains a morbid curiosity, marking the moment his career plunged straight into the abyss. For everyone else, it is a mediocre film for dim-witted kids.

This remake of the Disney movie is a good update. It isn't spectacular but it does what it sets out to do. Most of the comedy is juvenile but that doesn't mean that parts of it aren't funny. I didn't find most of it funny but there were some good bits. I liked hearing all of the great comedians in one place. It's not a classic but it is inoffensive. I'd watch it again but I'm not really going to put it on any kind of rotation in my house.

Feels like an attempt to cash in on the success of BABE, combined with Murphy finding a new niche as a family entertainer (in this context, THE NUTTY PROFESSOR is really the true "bridging" film of Murphy's progression). Features the same degree of agressive scatological humour of PROFESSOR, which if you are attuned to it is quite amusing; a distinguished voice cast (and some live-action before-they-were-famous appearances) help this go down easier than it probably deserves to.

The only funny part is every A-list actor going out of their way to do exaggerated animal voices and Norm just uses his regular ass voice the whole time.

Not too shabby. Eddie Murphy really shines well in this film, and he's not the only one. The animals are also really funny, and they were all superbly casted. The story could use some improvement, but out of any Dr. Dolittle film, this is the best.

Dr. Dolittle is a simple, but hilarious Eddie Murphy film. The gimmick is used to strong effect and the voice work is admirable. Particularly from Norm MacDonald and Albert Brooks. Unfortunately the special effects are not always convincing enough.

Eddie Murphy's career trend toward broad family comedies really starts to becomes entrenched here in this remake of a classic family film. Unfortunately, for some Murphy fans this has meant a downward trend in comedy quality. However this was something, just perfect for seven-year-old me

I don't know much about the original show, but I'm guessing it wasn't so much like this. I laughed at a few lines and some of the animal humor, but I wasn't impressed with the writing overall. Murphy is fine and there are worse ways to kill the time.

Stupid movie but not absolutely horrible. Some of it is funny, the main problem is it becomes increasingly reliant on shitty gags and references and since the writers knew their audience wouldn't demand more the plot is cookie cutter crap.
