Tackles the subject (which in all honesty is very complex) remarkably well for as poorly put together as it seems to be. It is the story of Napster, so heavily geared towards the piracy side of the argument, but does give plenty of counterpoint arguments. The real insight is in how perfectly the youth movement could see the future (you cannot stop file trading) and how many of them went on to make fortunes doing just that (Sean Parker with Facebook and Spotify) while the labels collapsed.

Interesting information though the output did not keep my attention.

An entertaining documentary that contrasts the creators of Napster with the heads of music labels, the RIAA and affected artists. The narration spans from 1998 to 2012 and is a varied and intelligent mix of recent interviews, tv reports, recordings and talks starting 1998, thus revealing the change of time, perspectives and conditions.

Pretty straightforward documentary, but does a nice job of chronicling the rise and fall of Napster. The film presented Napster as being more than just about piracy. I'm not entirely sure I believe the company line on that point, but that doesn't really take away from the doc. Hellboy76's review is spot on about the "real insight" of the movie.

Does what it sets out to do. Talks about Napster and gives insight into what took place during that time. Spends a little bit of time on the "other side" that opposed downloading, but seems mostly pro-downloading. Which is fine, I"m just throwing that out there so people realize it.

Quite good as docs go. If you remember Napster or downloaded music off bulletin boards you'll find this entertaining.
