A movie so great that it rent the Arc of Time asunder, spawning a video game that was released 7 years before the film's 1994 release (though it is believed that it was actually Robert Patrick's casting as Japanese crime lord, Koga Shuko, that summoned the nether-demons who committed the aforementioned Arc rending). It is also a commonly known fact* that the traditional Portuguese and Filipino chicken dish, adobo, is named after the film's mutant gang leader, Abobo. (*not commonly known)

Abobo should win the Oscar for his chilling portrayal of a man destroyed by steroids. He should then have barrels thrown at him until he falls over, flashes a few times and disappears.

Double Dragon is... an experience. It's bad in every way, but at the same time, there's something hilarious about it. It's pretty much the definition of funny-bad. Total crap!

Imagine a film with the carefree juvenile playfulness of Bill and Ted combined with the imposing, crushing gloom of Blade Runner. Now dial the Blade Runner back to where its just a sort of an allusion to that gloom, maybe contained safely behind a window with a few out of place looking back drops. Now place it in the 90s with its generic dance music and neon coloured clothes. Throw in a couple of twinks and that's roughly where we are with Double Dragon.

I thought to myself, "It's got Mark Dacascos and Alyssa Milano when she was still young and hot...how bad could it be?" The answer is very, very bad indeed, almost unwatchable. WTF was up with that Abobo monster?

I think my brother and I created a better idea for a Double Dragon movie doing "ninja" moves on the trampoline pretending to be the characters from the game when we were kids.

I fight off laughter whenever I think about this move. B movie action star Mark Dacascos, Party of Five star Scott Wolf, and ROBERT PATRICK?!?! This is just such a jumbled mess I can't begin to describe (and Paul Dini wrote it!).

Very poor and cheap adaptation of a fun game (in the 1980s) that was DOA and hasn't improved with time. It has no sense of style, the fight choreography is lousy, and the post-apocalyptic 'futuristic' setting is uninspired and clearly stolen from better films.

"Cops are too soft on crime" is already a weird take for a cyberpunk story, but making it "cops are too soft on gangs in LA" two years after the Rodney King riots is astonishingly distasteful. Even putting that aside, it's weird that this movie can have so much colorful nonsense yet be so boring. I really liked this as a kid, because kid-me was much more willing to project fun onto potentially interesting elements, regardless of how badly the actual film failed at bringing the fun.

It makes Street Fighter look decent, and Super Mario Bros. seem a masterpiece.

I love that bloated creature guy that kept yelling and was force fed spinach. Can we please get a spin-off drama series about him in 2020?

Not a great movie, but definitely an entertaining one. You can tell a lot of work went into Double Dragon, and there's something about the whole Kid friendly Mad Max/Escape From New York vibe that I just love. Fun Movie.

Born in 1989, the more films I see (or rewatch) from the 1990s the more I realise how strange the years were, making the 1980s seem sane in comparison at times. With its bright colours, futuristic visions and clashes between utter fun and incompetence, this film with a few others are starting to show me what these years were really like, the moment before the internet and nostalgia becoming a commodity where the last few years before the Millennium collapsed in their own pop culture.

A very '90s movie based on a very '80s videogame. Everything about this is terrible but it somehow manages to be borderline entertaining thanks to Alyssa Milano's ridiculous shorts and Robert Patrick's moustache-twirling villain. Apparently it also follows the plot of the game, for the 2 people who knew or cared that the game had a plot.

Did I miss something? Wasn't this a stand up arcade game in like the mid eighties? Why was this movie made in 1994? It was too late to be relevant, too early to be nostalgic , just in time to be crap.

While I didn't get to watch Double Dragon until I was an adult (I'm certain I would've loved the heck outta it had I seen it as a kid), my inner adolescent magically convinced me to have a good time while watching this. It's cheesy, it's made for the youngins (and is therefore more than just a little inappropriate at times), and the action makes the Power Rangers look like black belts, but I never thought I'd see Abobo forcefed spinach by Alyssa Milano or Jimmy/Bimmy raise the people's eyebrow.

It's hilariously dumb and doesn't make a lick of sense, but it's got the T-1000 and moustachioed super stuntman Al Leong fighting against the chairman of Iron Chef America, some white dude and Alyssa Milano in tight clothing so it can't be all bad, can it? Oh it can!

I don't know what it is about this movie. By all accounts I should consider it with some of the worst films ever made. But there's just something about it that movies it above terrible beyond all reason to just bad enough to be entertaining with friends.
