One of those British murder stories that plays out more casual than bringing excitement. Does bring over Peter Lorre to be creepy, so there's that. Otherwise the acting was fine. They just didn't do much to create suspense considering it was a double murder case.

Like in Brighton Rock, there's an interesting contrast between the cheery façade of the seaside setting and the inner discontent of the two main characters. The relationship between Farr and Hopkins plays out nicely, but the thriller aspect of the film is somewhat clumsy, with too many silly twists in the final ten minutes.
