For a bit I was afraid this was going to be torture porn, but thankfully it takes a different direction. It's clearly influenced by Psycho and does some interesting things with the lead, but the acting just isn't good enough to make anything special out of this.

Clunky, ugly slasher with a few good makeup effects that suffers from a lack of consistent tone and some odd acting choices that make me wonder what on earth is going on

This is pretty familiar territory - a man has mother issues and becomes a misogynistic serial killer. Only here we actually see him murder only one person. The rest of the time is spent watching him talk to corpses and shop for disco clothing. Seriously, what was the point of that scene? In fact the entire second half had all sorts of tedious, uneventful scenes. A pretty boring, forgettable movie. Deranged (1974) did this same thing much better.

Formulaic slasher flick where instead of using a knife, the killer lures women to his house, chains them up in the metal room upstairs and flamethrowers them to death. Then he dresses up the burnt corpses to decorate his house, all to impress his mother, whose body he's been keeping in the other room. The first flamethrower kill was pretty cool, and the villain has all kinds of twisted dreams and hallucinations, but it's mostly just bad overacting from everyone involved. Meh.

An offensive, leering movie that actually tries to get you to sympathize with its creepy killer and unappealing best buddy Osth (a macho jerk who cheats on his wife and is actually set up in the end as the hero!) while the female victims are all presented as bubble-brained bimbos and bitches. There *are* some good Tom Brumberger makeup FX, but they're not enough to make *anyone* sit through this trash.
