Dolphin Tale

Not quite as saccharine as other flicks of its ilk, I still wish the twinkle/platitude quotient were a tad lower.

I cried bc it was sad and also not the best movie

Has its heart in the right place, and has a sweetness about it, but it is so cutesy and twee that if you’re not susceptible to its tone, you may find yourself rebelling against it – this makes FREE WILLY look like hard-hitting drama by comparison, and not helped by Connick or Freeman who both play into their worst mawkish tendencies. The core story is quite interesting, but presumably “real life” didn’t include the hackneyed “let’s put on a show to save the barn” that occupies the second half.

kids movie, but Hallmark movie with famous actors. really bad.

Cute and well-made movie. Everyone does a fine job acting, even the kids! If anything, they were the best part, aside from the cool dolphin.

Totally forgettable.

Schmaltzy, but I found it hard not to be seduced by its life-affirming tone, shiny happy montages, and the inspiring true story behind the movie.

Harmless electronic babysitter for the kids. Colorful, but flavorless and entirely without tension; I'm actually not joking when I say it makes you miss the verisimilitude and grittiness of FREE WILLY.

I Was Never A Big Freak About These Movies,But Does It Deserve An Award,No,Does Deserve A Thunbs Up,Sure.

I enjoy the rare movies where people are nice to one another -- however, after a promising first act, this thing just completely goes off the rails in the second half. I have a huge tolerance for sentimentality but the last hour of this is a self-congratulatory "slow clap". Wasted opportunity.

The actual story is probably a bit more interesting than the one the movie made up about it.

Everything about this is sad. A boy without a father. A girl who's mom passed away. Great athlete goes to war and gets hurt. The dolphin loses it tail. The animal hospital has no money. A storm hits. But it has a happy ending.

Dolphin Tale Entertains all ages and is a great family film that always stays on task.

I am a sucker for these movies and this one follows the formula exactly. Every character and every plot device is well thought out. It's almost too perfect (except maybe for the helicopter scene). You'll love this one or hate it with your guts.
