Dolls

With surprisingly solid effects & some solid performances by Downey, Wallace & a debuting Simpson, it distances itself from the 1987 cult classic very early & does a fine job of setting itself apart from other entries into the creepy doll subgenre by having an intriguing family dynamic at its core. Though it's lacking in gore, it makes up for it with fleshed-out characters & an interesting story. Its biggest flaw is the final act, particularly the ending, but it's still not bad for what it is.
