Divided We Fall

This really subtly black comedy doubles as a fairly stark portrait of life lived in a state of constant fear and suspicion.

Good film...strongest in its writing, the slo-mo camera gets to be a bit much and seems to be used haphazardly throughout the film. There's a sweetness and good humor to the central couple that continues throughout the film, creating a pretty unique perspective on life during that terrible time. Combine that with the varieties of other types in the film, and it becomes clear that it was hard to live and not collaborate in some small way--no one comes away clean.

One of the best Czech films of the last few years. A good, strong story, nicely done and with some very good acting.
