Dicks: The Musical

There is a lot to enjoy in this, but it leans really hard into the silliness. In saying that, feels like a "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" situation, where I should have fully understood that from the title. But after the fifth mention of the Sewer Boys, I was ready to say goodbye to them. The final musical scene is a glorious homage to John Waters. I can't believe I am complaining about how silly this film is. This is more of what I want in comedy films! Walt Whitman is silently nodding in his grave.

Over-the-top hardly begins to describe, but it does have better songs than most musicals in recent years.

I got a whole bunch of big laughs. I imagine the sewer boys merch is on back order, not gonna even try.

Great musical numbers wasted on this script. Final scene might have set the gay rights movement back decades.

A raunchy musical that’s trying so very hard to be funny, likeable, and edgy that it fails at all of it. Very little about this film works, and a handful of moderately successful gags and a couple of humorous jokes doesn’t make it worth your time.

A gay parent trap hallucinated by someone who drank poppers at a sex club in Bushwick. It has the same shockingly poor taste as Borat and Charles's other work and some moments are amazingly funny. But it feels a little too long even at its sub 90m runtime

Guaranteed to be someone's favorite and least favorite musical of all time. I'm just in it for the Sewer Boys and the fucking identical twins.
