This low-budget buddy film may lack punch or edginess, but owing to the charm of the intergenerational bonding at the warm heart of the story and the mentor-protege dynamic between its two charming leads, Diamond Men turns out to be a mildly pleasant film that means well, and is made all the more worthwhile for its fantastically satisfying ending.

Robert Forster was great as the aging career diamond salesman. Bess Armstrong was also good. The story plods along at times, but develops into an interesting dichotomy between the two main characters. Young versus old, expert versus amateur. Each of them are changed by the interchange. The ending was tied up a bit too neatly, but it was an overall satisfying experience to watch.

I HATE going to an alternative cinema for a night out at the pictures only to wind up seeing a movie that reminds me of a sitcom
