Some random college kids get lost in the snow while searching for answers to why naked Russians got lost in the snow 50 years ago. What they find is slightly disappointing. What we find is their footage. What we fail to find on that footage is any naked college kids or Russians.

Blair Witch on a mountain veers into The Descent territory until a neat twist almost justifies the 90 minutes spent watching this.

The concept is actually kinda neat, but might work better as a book than a movie. There's just not that much terribly interesting stuff happening until the third act, which can't really deliver the goods.

It takes way too long for the film to get to an even remotely interesting point, but I guess that the twist is kinda cool-ish. But said twist doesn't really manage to make it feel like it was worth it to sit through more than an hour of nothingness and a shitty script filled with... gay jokes, for some reason?

A bit slow on the uptake but once the mystery kicks in you don't mind. Not particularly scary but a good horror nonetheless.

At first I was intrigued because the documentary style felt so authentic, but then it quickly became dull and boring. I stuck in there though two of the seven people watching it with me walked out of the room. It payed off slightly because the ending was the only redeeming part of it. If the elements introduced at the end started earlier, it would have been a better movie.

It makes absolutely no sense. None whatsoever. So the Russian govt. allows these kids to research what happened in the Dyatlov Pass incident, but they don't want them to find the secret that's hidden there, so they try to kill them? Seriously? How about you just don't let them into your country? Or even better, don't make such a shitty movie.

Renny Harlin's diverting, frightening, never-boring found-footage horror knows when the breathtaking mountain landscape functions to gear up the oppressive anticipation against the characters' jaunty, youthful attitudes. Very much like an anagram that all comes smoothly together, Devil's Pass indulges familiar conventions before swerving into a barbed, shocking hairpin turn just at the right time.

Another case of a wonderful concept crippled by lame execution. It crosses into "who gives a shit" territory with frightening speed.

An excellent third act doesn't matter when the entire second act feels like filler. Sure the monster design was weak, but what they did with them more then made up for it. Also first act feel likes Blair Witch but with more likable characters, which is a plus. Really can only recommend for people who like found footage movies though.

Harlin knows what he's "supposed" to do to make a scary movie nowadays, but the '90s style is so ingrained in him that he can't settle in.

Ok, there were some scenes were I hid behind a cover or an arm - whatever was nearest. But I'm a sissy. An basically this movie is anything but scary. There are some interesting ideas in the second half, but ultimately they're neither really entertaining nor logical (not even within the given frame). Also: Why do American characters never learn the language of the country they're going to die in?!

What starts off as a promising found footage type movie quickly loses steam. SPOILERS the "monsters" are horribly done and destroy any goodwill the movie had crafted up to that point. The ending twist is okay.
