A fine enough true-crime dramatisation. I guess it's not really that different to the kind of TV movie you find playing during the daytime, but the performances are solid, the direction worthy, and the story inherently compelling. Playing out the lengthy postscript through on-screen text alone is unfortunate, although it's difficult to imagine it working on-screen either. Worth watching as a common-or-garden courtroom thriller.

Disturbing and depressing subject matter but a compelling movie.

Gerçek 1 olaydan çevrilen, Arkansas'ta 3 ailenin oğlu, ıssız 1 ormanda kaybolur. Olayların gelişmesi üzerine, çocukların cesedi ormandaki nehirden çıkar. 16-18 yaşındaki satanist gençler şüphelenip tutuklanır. ABD polisini yerden yere vuran film, yargısız infaz konusu da işlenmiş. Riskli 1 öykü. Filmin sonunda, gerçekler 1 gün yüzümüze çarpsa da, suç ortada kalmış. Şeytanın oyunlarına akıl sır verilmez.

Egoyan does a made for TV movie but still is able to portray what makes his movies so special. The digging into the fractures in relationships in small towns in the wake of tragedy.

Egoyans capable of a lot better clearly, but does well here. A bit paint by numbers tho.

A pretty straightforward dramatisation of the West Memphis Three case and original trial. Witherspoon works well, but the other big-name actors like Firth are unnecessary and distracting. I found it easy to follow as I already knew plenty about the case, but those without prior knowledge might have questions. Not to mention the sheer weight of the information in the post-script. In fact, those people should skip it altogether and just watch the Paradise Lost trilogy instead.

Nothing extraordinary but still worth a watch if you like the true crime genre

Wannabe filmmakers should watch this film as a how-to NOT adapt a true story into a film. There is no heart nor soul to this film and it just ends up being very boring. Watch West of Memphis and the three Paradise Lost docs to see the real story that inspired this mess of a film.

At least the cast was cool. I'm not really sure if this story could even make a good dramatic movie.

A film that's so bad, it seems a parody.
Read about the story afterwards, they had some cool working material that they could have done a much better job with.

As a 'non' I find this movie idiotic and full of lies and non-truths. Hollywood should stay away from notorious cases if they don't have a clue. Those rats are guilty, end of.

Unfortunately the most captivating part of this movie is the most difficult to watch. The police searches and missing kids leads you to think your in for a high-octane thriller but unfortunately this turns into a dull courtroom drama. Im sure there is an interesting story to be told but this definitely isnt it. The stars Reece Witherspoon and Colin Firth are wasted in this with little dialogue or interaction.

I would Devil's Knot watch this movie if you've already seen the documentaries. This film really ads nothing new to the case. It has a pretty great cast, but it's wasted in a boring film that looked like it was sporting a pretty low budget (probably spent on very highly paid actors)...

Well.. Ok, I like that this movie talked about Vicki, her kid and Chris Morgan with a little (and I mean little) more detail. Oh and Gerry Driver, the crazy Satanist guy. Really, read the book if you want even more foolishness from him.
Painting Pam Hobbs as a tragic figure who 'had doubts from the start' is complete bullshit. She wanted those boys burned at the stake just as much as everyone else in WM. Damien Echols is in no way ok with this movie and it's very clear why. Watch the docs.

I struggle to find a reason to recommend Devil's Knot. Anyone interested in this case will have already watched some of the documentaries, while those who haven't heard of it will see this and not get the full picture. Instead, they'll be treated to a narrative and characters who exist not to be interesting or compelling, but to act as vessels through which the film can add doubt to a not-at-all clear-cut case. The story is interesting, but the way it was told here just doesn't work.

Such a great story wasted so badly. I wish that Atom Egonyan had not undermined the power of storytelling instead of cinematography.
