Detektiv Downs

You'd expect this to be gimmicky, and it is a bit, but it's not an exploitation film riding on its lead having Down's. It's a reality the film confronts head on, but never lets it get in the way of a good mystery, effective scenes or the fun humour. It's a character trait people react to in different ways, but the lead is very much his own man and treated with respect by the film, if not always the characters. That wouldn't mean much if the underlying story weren't good, but thankfully it is.

The best Norwegian film I've seen in a long time, and maybe the only one I've seen with such well-defined and appropriately used style. Allegedly the first film ever made with a lead actor with Downs Syndrome, and the character is portrayed with true heart and charm. A great watch, sleuthing hasn't been this good in half a century.
