Desert Pursuit

1952
Western
In the mid-late 1800's camels were imported to various regions of the American southwestern deserts as pack animals and natives from the middle eastern countries came along as drivers and tenders, which is why there are three designated-as "Arab" villains in this American western: Prospector Ford Smith has hit it big and is leaving Nevada for California with his packs of gold. More a cozy desert chase than than one that provided action. But what I loved the most about this one was seeing camels in the wild west! Not often one see western films where they're riding on camelback. Apparently that was a real thing back in the days. But's limited how serious you'd take a outlaw riding one of those. Wayne Morris & Virginia Grey had a sweet little thing going, and while they could have added a lot more danger this this, it was clear they were going more for a comical touch.
