Der Engel mit der Posaune

Austrian epic about life of aristocratic woman from late teens to elderly mum & bit past death. Lot rests on Paula Wesselly as lady & she does well as do all cast. Have little sympathy for Austria as a nation (enthusiastically jumped on Hitler's coattails & cling to Nazi ideology into 21st century) it's hard not to feel for Henrietta as world & mores she knew when young slowly disintegrates. Hollywood perhaps better (UK maybe not, unseen The Angel with the Trumpet (1950) ) still very watchable.
