Reminiscent of the far better The Ballad of Narayama this one posits the lives of the abandoned elderly women. Starts well but drifts into hard to beleive (and accept) fantasy as nature conspires against plans to destroy the village from which they were exiled. For some reason made me remember Lord of the Flies
