Demain on déménage

Not quite as perfect as Nuit et Jour, but taking both into account, "light" comedic Chantal Akerman is definitely my preferred Akerman. It takes a while to adjust to the film's peculiar, somewhat dry yet quasi-screwball tone, but once it takes off (right around the open house scene) it pretty much never stops being hilarious and completely charming, albeit at times very silly (sort of like when Resnais tried to do lighthearted comedies except here it totally works). Sylvie Testud is fantastic.

have not seen anything this joyful and beautiful in a long time, nor laughed out loud as much. it's a subtle comedy about the similarities and differences between people and their rituals, and far, far exceeded expectations. the writer was utterly adorable.
