This is such a guilty pleasure of mine. There's so much about this B-movie you could rag on, but Jean Gillie as Margot Shelby is just the most vicious and evil femme fatale you've ever seen. Thanks to her this is one of my favorite noirs, even though it's really far from being one of the best.

Jean Gillie is a textbook femme fatale and totally makes this film. The plot strains credulity a bit, but she sells everything that matters.

Cheap as dirt, over-the-top pulp with an insane premise but a lot of spunk. The score is overbearing, the script is a bit creaky, and the cinematography is entirely unremarkable. But Jean Gillie (who died tragically young) is so vicious, and even gleefully giddy, as the femme fatale that she elevates the entire picture. This really could have been something special with a little more care, but as it is it's an entertaining, hard-boiled diversion.

Love the dictionary-reading prison medical attendant: "Benny, stop being obfuscatory!"

The plot is ridiculous, the acting isn't that great, the characters are annoying, the cinematography is bland and unexciting (huge deduction for a noir), the direction is merely serviceable, the score is obnoxious and even at 76 minutes it's almost a chore to get through. I wouldn't even call it offensively bad, I don't think - there's just absolutely no reason to see this more than once. Pretty much no reason to see it even that many times. Stay away.

Adequate filler noir trying to capitalize on things like Double Indemnity. The first scene is very strong and it moves along nicely, but there's not much outside of that to make it stand out. The acting at times seems overly rehearsed and like they're just going through the motions.

Powerty row producer/director Jack Bernhard brings over his British newlywed, Jean Gillie, to make her a Hollywood star. Same as their marriage, that was a flop! Had some scenes that was stood-out. Not sure if it was because they were good, or just ludicrous. But there were peaks of sorts in this odd one.

I liked this film a lot more the first time I watched it, mainly because it's sheer looniness caught me off guard. On re-watch, it's obvious cheapness and the truly terrible performances of everyone outside the central three roles wore me down. I'll say this ... it's batshit even by the standards of a poverty row noir.

a zero budget, bare bones noir, worth watching due to a ridiculously evil femme and a cooky resurrection plot. Plus it's only 75 minutes, your time isn't that precious cmon.

The plot is laughably absurd, even if accepted as a noir class Z. .. I prefer JH Lewis, is at least mildly entertaining.

Particularly degenerate film noir. Some scenes even had to be cut due to excessive violence. Not very interesting actors, but otherwise very enjoyable.

The convoluted structure got in the way. Still, that was one ruthless dame (right up--or down--there with Detour's Ann Savage). Interesting also to see Leonard cast as a cop (on the right side of the law for once).
