Death of a Salesman

Very much rooted in a stage play delivery. Also reminds me of how TV-shows like Lights Out and Suspense would do their thing. Basic, emotional and up-close. Becomes a little too much for me, even if it gets deeper and deeper into their psyche. Fredric March the key presence, but equally as much Kevin McCarthy, both getting Oscar Nominations. It's an interesting approach for a feature film at the time. More feelings, less charm and polish.

March lacks the tragic sense Willie Loman demands, and Benedek's direction is undistinguished. Mildred Dunnock is fine, but it's not nearly enough.
