It’s fine for a Nazi ghost boat movie. I don’t mind cruise ships but after the second day I forget what it’s like having normal bowel movements, sorry just trying to get into the psyche of George Kennedy’s Sea Captain character. George Kennedy stunt double doesnt even try, its Naked Gun good.

Just as all Internet arguments end with Hitler, so, too, do all 80s movies featuring sentient death-liners. If you can make it through the first 90 minutes, resisting the urge to tape over the movie with footage of that time your family went to Yellowstone, then you'll be treated with an ejaculation of bat-shit craziness that almost makes the wait worth it. Almost.

Given its obviously lack of a genuine budget, Death Ship does a fairly good job of creating some pretty chilling scenes. Capturing the haunted house (or ship) vibe is often elusive and the film finds it.

I don't know if you can necessarily call this movie terrible, or awful, but it was terribly, awfully boring. Needed more killing and ghost Nazis and less people going crazy.

People like this movie because the DEATH SHIP mythos -- that of a ghost-haunted Nazi war vessel cruising the high seas, hunting for innocent victims -- is too cool to pass up. This is standard shlock horror with a slow start because screenwriting class did not cover efficient introductions back then. It works mostly because the cast feel trapped in this script and that is conveyed by their performances.

Some parts were interesting on a creepy point of view, but many other parts were so bad it sorts of averages the rest out into the bad.

The 1970s and 1980s were really obsessed with Nazis for some weird, concerning reason. Some of it resulted in good cinema, most of it was goofy or dumb as hell. This movie at least kind of tries, I guess.

This one is watchable, but little use is made of Richard Crenna and George Kennedy in this horror on the seas.

Haunted house film on a ship - it's actually not a bad premise. Too bad that the film-makers didn't have the vision or the money to make it into a genuinely good horror film, and instead they resort to using stock footage & recycling genre cliches - there also seem to be vital scenes missing altogether. It's always nice to see Crenna & Kennedy in pretty much anything, but especially Kennedy is hamming it up. At least the ship is quite menacing, even if it's not really believable as a WW2 vessel.

...and remember, if you must get high, don't edit. The 90 minutes you save may be mine.

Surprisingly chilling atmosphere with some reasonably creative kills and scares. Overall it's an impressive display given how cheaply this was obviously made for (triviots will have a field day identifying the source of all the stock footage), but even for a haunted boat movie it's kinda dumb and predictable.
