Canada 1931: The unsociable trapper Johnson lives for himself in the ice-cold mountains near the Yukon river. During a visit in the town he witnesses a dog-fight. He interrupts the game and buys one of the dogs - almost dead already - for $200 against the owner's will. When the owner Hasel complains to mounty sargeant Millen, he refuses to take action. Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin and Apollo Creed running around northern Canada being badasses. Brought to you by Golden Harvest of all companies. Great scenery, great camerawork and just a flat out great movie!

I saw this all through the 80s on cable. Finally got to see it again. Don't know why it's not as well known and what more you could ask for from an action movie. Two huge action stars in the lead (Bronson and Marvin), visually stunning setting of Canadian mountains, plenty of shootouts and a manhunt like no other. Love it!

A great cast runs around trying to kill each other in some pretty nice scenery. Bronson fends off a whole group of tough guys (William Sanderson?) in the Yukon wilderness. Not much of a story just an excuse for some fightin' and shootin'. Carl Weathers is a former negro league baseball player turned trapper? Mountie? Who the hell knows, but if you like tough guy westerns (set in 30's Canada) you could do a lot worse.

Good action, but not enough of it. Angie Dickinson is wasted.

One of the bad ass ones. Bronson and Marvin going toe to toe in the mountains? Yeah! And you throw in Carl Weathers for good measure. Apollo always bites the dust. He couldnt even manage to stay alive in Happy Gilmore, for godssakes.

Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin make this film extremely watchable. They don't make hard men like these anymore.

Strange movie. Very random. Gotta give love it, though, for being a snowy western. And looking like one. Awesomely so. Real bummer it couldn't have been more straight forward. Lee Marvin, though.

I watched this by accident, stupidly thinking it was Death Wish (I'll get to that later), but this is a decent piece of work. Nice to see an action-thriller of its time, with actual gorgeous snowy settings and an emphasis on masculine dialogue that offers some corkers of one-liners. Yet this film, thematically and in its action, feels rather limp and doesn't go very far as a chase film (plus the shonky gore effects shouldn't warrant this a rating higher than PG).

Two hard men forced into a conflict neither wants, one flees while the other chases him across a fantastic landscape. Bronson and Marvin, both known for hardcase personas, are well cast in their roles.
