Dear Mother

Pas un excellent film, mais un des films les plus drôles que j'ai vu récemment.

Crazy, audacious, I liked it.

Based on the synopsis I read, I expected Dear Mother to be an indie-vibed comedy that would have a cute carpe-diem motif. I was wrong! The french title, L'origine du monde, based on the painting is closer to the actual premise. The film has has some sharp and funny dialogue along with a fair bit of physical comedy, but is consistently vulgar and definitely not for the prudish; and in some ways reminiscent of Miranda July's films. The cast is good, but the pacing is off in parts.
