De slag om de Schelde

The battle when it finally commences in the final 30 minutes is very well done, no wonder since this is the most expensive Dutch production since Black Book. But it is a drag to get to there. The movie is overstuffed with three plot lines with underdeveloped characters, of which none deal directly with the battle. So while it does deliver in action at the end, it lost me caring about anyone long before.

Well, it is good to see a WWII movie NOT made by Americans. It tries to give a few different perspectives, but is not able to develop any characters, it tries to show their humanity but they all go down as clichés with almost nothing to remember any of them by. It is fresh to see other perspectives other than Americans and a few good war scenes, but nothing to write home about.

I love war films, but this one missed the mark.

Great for Dutch standards, yet it fails to deliver in story. 3 story lines that barely come together. I went in with a bit of hype, but ultimately disappointed
