Day of the Bad Man

Spoiler: This film doesn't have an ending. More spoiler/detail: For some reason the girl switches to MacMurray's character at the end with no explanation. And the two decide to hug instead of try to put the fire out in his home. Just prior to that we simply hear gunshots, with no explanation as to how he managed to kill off the remaining two bad guys. This is genuinely the worst (best?) example I think I've ever seen of the writers needing to wrap up a script and having zero idea how to do it.
