Dark Whispers: Volume 1

These all-female directed horror anthologies really break the glass ceiling by showing that women can make genre cinema every bit as uninspired and banal as men's.

I'm relatively inexperienced with anthologies but this was intriguing. I think my favorite short was "The Man Who Caught a Mermaid" just for the sheer fucked-up-edness of it, or "Gloomy Valentine" for the art style. Some of the shorts were, as silly as this sounds, "too short" to get into, or just didn't hit for me, like "Watch Me". The overarching story of the woman inheriting the book is also worthwhile. This is light on the horror, but makes up for that with good storytelling. Worth seeing!
