ready for the thick, tanned, pancaked, over the top B-movie experience that I was totally in for, I not only got what I expected, but also kind of started to like the addict that Pacino portraits. Credits to the scriptwriter!

I feel like this could be sold in a package along with Manglehorn and The Humbling called the Al Pacino's Lukewarm Comeback Collection. However, if you're in the mood for some finely acted saccharin schmaltz, look no further.

Every movie you've ever seen, but with fun performances from Pacino & Plummer. I had a hard time getting my head around why that awful song was so popular.

This is a good movie. The cast all do a good job here and they work well together. The script works and it has some interesting moments. Overall I would recommend this film.

Certain kinds of people (like my mom) love these kinds of movies. I am not one of those people. With the acting talent involved (although Garner seems to like this kind of "uplifting" sappiness), one might hope for something a little more.., well, plausible, but don't get your hopes up. The writer occasionally has his characters react as if they were in a more honest drama, but it's the kind of movie where people change a little too much, a little too neatly & always for the best.

A great cast and a pretty solid storyline, albeit not very original, makes this a decent watch. Nothing that will blow you away, but it's kinda fun seeing Al Pacino in a "fun" role and seemingly enjoying himself. Some of the music is pretty good too and has a very emotional but hopefully final scene, that I thought was pulled off nicely.

Danny Collins has no intention of breaking new ground. But Pacino and a top cast make it mean something.

Don't let the name fool you, this movie is more than just one name. First of all, it has a lot of big name actors in it... Al Pacino, Anette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale, Christopher Plummer and Supergirl herself Melissa Benoist. The film main plot is this, a drugged out, deadbeat father who is a famous musician is inspired when he finds out John Lennon and Yoko Ono wrote him a personalized letter when he was less famous...

This film reminds me of a line by Joe Walsh "If I knew I would have to play this song for the rest of my life I would have written something different !" ... Pacino is trapped by his fame, forced to sing the same crap for ever, and almost too late gets the kick up the arse he needs to make some changes. He still cant. Doesnt mean he is a bad person, and Plummer, his faithful sidekick, highlights that with a brilliant anecdote. Super cast. A manipulative story. Pacino on top form and a lot of fun

Great cast. Al Pacino, Jennifer Garner, Annette Bening & Christopher Plummer. The little girl Giselle Eisenberg stole absolutely every scene. The story was interesting. There was some nice banter & several memorable moments. An aging musician who had been coasting for decades finds encouragement to reconnect with his creativity, and his son and his family, but his entrenched lifestyle is an all too familiar pattern.

It's really nice to see Al Pacino star in a great movie in this decade. I might have actually enjoyed this a lot more than other people but you can't deny that Al Pacino really does a solid job. The plot maybe recycled but it's lots of fun. Pacino is not a great singer but his character's charm and wit brings life to the film. Danny Collins had me laughing continuously and left a smile on my face. You can't ask for much more than that. Definitely check this one out! 4.5 STARS

The funniest time I've had in theaters in a while. Al Pacino delivers such an easy breezy performance that you can't help but think there has to be an Oscar nom waiting for him

Oh God, did I just hear Al Pacino sing?! At least the rest of the film is him acting like a eccentric artist trying to adjust to what others consider normal life, wanting to unite with his forgotten son from years past. Not terribly fresh, but fun to see Al Pacino act all goofy charming people with cheesy lines. Good-hearted stuff.

A story that has been told before but Danny Collins is told with warmth and humour and has some solid performances - a well written ending stops it fallling into afternoon TV sentimentality.

I'm pretty sure this story has been told many times before, except this time around there's a father who thinks his ADHD daughter needs to be "fixed" and a grumpy Christopher Plummer inexplicably rambling about breast-feeding African women. It crosses off all the things on the Hollywood checklist, and there are some enjoyable moments from Pacino, but it's really not a movie I ever want to see again.

Better than the preview indicates. That Lennon did actually send the letter as depicted, albeit to a British folk singer, gives the movie a good historical hook. And the script is excellent.

Transparently manipulative, but if you're fine with that it's not a terrible way to spend some time. Pacino is game for this role and he has fun, and though the screenplay on the whole is at most all right, the dialogue between characters is decent most of the time.

For as we're dancing to the lively beat of quality life lessons related to living our lives well and loving our families fiercely, we're also blasted with the shoddy syncopation of a rocker snorting coke and getting falling-down drunk. We're assailed with a tawdry music video that is a totally unnecessary, overlong ogling of Danny's naked girlfriend. And our ears get rapped by the raunchy rhymes of gutter-level obscenities. Danny Collins is a movie you've seen before, but told in a humorous and heartfelt way that makes it worthwhile. It's slight at points, and eye-rollingly sincere at others, but it works more often than not, in large part because of how good Al Pacino is in the leading role. The supporting cast is equally as wonderful, and all together they make great comedy and strong drama.
