Dance Party, USA

This obviously has so much more credibility as a movie about teens than mainstream "teen movies". Still, it is hard for me to rate. It's very authentic in some ways but feels a bit inauthentic in others. It is interesting throughout but definitely a slight movie, even by Mumblecore terms.

A short and sweet mumblecore film. It was surprisingly better than what I though it would be, but still too slight for my taste.

I would say it suffers from having seen Quiet City first, but even discounting that, this just isn't nearly as good.

Strangely appealing and satiating by the end, but I just couldn't get past the inane characters, regardless of how realistic they were.

A very simple film with very simple dialogue and simple acting. However, all of these things together create an extremely impressive debut film that resonates long after the film has finished.
