This movie is kind of the answer to people who are too pretentious for Godzilla movies but still enjoy giant monster films.

Could've used a little more bloodshed, but definitely a good monster/evil spirit tale.

This is a pretty neat and engaging film. The cinematography is nice, and the effects of the Daimajin are very cool, plus there's a great Ifukube score.

This film tells an interesting story of a god who only gets involved when he has a personal stake.

The kaiju doesn’t appear until the final 15 minutes. Luckily all leading up to it is perfectly watchable even it is completely by the numbers. Those final 15 minutes are of course still the highlight of the movie.
