Cutie Honey

Ridiculous live action (with bits of CGI and anime) adaptation of a manga about the superhero Cutie Honey and her battles against the freaky creatures of Panther Claw. Picture an episode of the Power Rangers overdosed on pink cotton candy and cranked up to 11. A little overbearing with the cuteness at times, but Cutie Honey and the lady cop who helps her are both incredibly sexy.

About what you would expect from a live-action magical girl manga adaptation: cheesy costumes, shitty CGI and a whole lot of silliness. Still, the absurd tone occasionally manages to be amusing.

The insanely bright and bubbly "Cutie Honey" in my mind is loosely comparable to the resulting explosion of a Japanese candy and fireworks factory having sex and mutating with the place where they make the "Hello Kitty", "Power Rangers", and "Sailor Moon" merchandise. The end result is an entertaining product that however, can sometimes feel like having a sweet-tooth with a cavity and a mouthful of "Pop-Rocks".

Top badass moment? It stars Eriko Sato (Japan's top swimsuit model), although this movie is bad in just about everyway really. (Note for 'old people': that's "bad" as in good, not "bad" as in bad). In any case, any film that carries the BBFC Insight "Mildly Sexualised Posing" has got to be worth watching. One cat, no chainsaws or decapitations. A beautiful, ginger cat (with a brief speaking part), steals the whole first scene from an otherwise naked (except for bath bubbles) Eriko Sato.

i'd have given it much less but i was tripping nutsack and it was fantastic in that setting

Explosive exquiste fun, & easier to watch than Ritual. A delightful live action cartoon.

Loads of fun, and Eriko Sato is just so adorable.

Like Power Rangers on speed. Trashy but ok.
