So, like you know how I've been continually defending Don Mancini, and his attempts at keeping the continuity of the franchise in order from sequel to sequel, yeah well, the reveal of the retcon "origin" story of our wheelchair bound protagonist may have destroyed all that goodwill. A sequel/reboot whose most inventive idea was: let's partially paralyze Chucky's foil, you know to make it a more even fight, to satisfy anyone who ever said, "Chucky ain't scary, I would just punt that stupid doll".

The gratuitous chili scene in Curse of Chucky is the most appalling thing I've ever seen in a movie.

After Seed of Chucky, the series really couldn't have gone any further in the comedic direction. It pretty much had to go back to basics. That chili scene was the most disgusting scene in film history, and yes, I am counting Divine in "Pink Flamingos".

(Viewed on 20/11/13): Mancini promised to make Chucky 'scary' again after a few misguided comic detours under his supervision. Since he created the series, you would like to trust his judgement, but C.O.C is a bland and formulaic retread with a clunky backstory that adds nothing and panders to modern expectations. As a director he is merely competent and tends towards convention. It is neither frightening or funny and just plods along rather aimlessly to its predictable conclusion.

An often laughably bad, Chuckified "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane".

Painfully generic. Nothing scary, surprising or original to be found here. Production values are decent, but there's just nothing here for fans of Chucky, horror or movies in general. Erm, unless you're into close-ups of food entering mouths. Ew.

A welcome return to "slasher" Chucky is the best crafted entry since the original; the back away from campy humour may be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view. Well performed by a largely unknown cast, which also means it's more difficult to predict the survivors! Like many modern genre films, it goes on at least once scene too long, however the end credit sting is definitely worth sticking around for. An enjoyable genre entry elevated by your familiarity with the Chucky series.

Surprisingly, Curse of Chucky is a huge step up from the last couple. Apparently direct-to-DVD was the way to go for this series. The acting is passable, and while most of the plot and set-up was generic, there are some highlights, like the interesting chili roullette. It's good gore and fun, which is all I can ask for from this series after Bride and Seed.

You know what? This was actually a pretty great return to form, and Fiona Dourif is just great in it. Goofiness is dialed way down, and that's the tensest I've ever been watching people play Russian Chili Roulette.

Much better then the last three films but still lacks any scares or suspense. They try to play this off as a quasi sequel/reboot but since you know the story even if you've never seen any of the films it lost the punch and surprise that it really needs to pull off the story. It also lost the good acting of the first one or even the anticipation of the "what's next" of the second film.

Nice wrap up for fans at the end, but what about the nanny cam surveillance footage of Chucky being sentient and murdering everyone? Did the cop delete it or something?

A horrible script and lackluster effects are made up for with a great atmosphere, nice cinematography and the revelation that is Fiona Dourif, and I'm not just saying that because she's in my movie (I'm not, she's great.)

Origin stuff feels so forced, specially because there's a juicy B movie build-up -- Barb's make-up, husband's plan to film his wife having an affair with nanny -- totally discarded so we get some flasback to connect Lee Ray's past to the family being slashed here. Acting is atrocious, with exception of Fiona Dourif, and even puppeteering had better days, but gore looks nice and you gotta love the cracking courtoom conclusion -- can't say the same about "legacy content" with Tilly and Vincent.

The best of the child's play series that is focused on being a horror film. Some actually great scenes here ex. them eating dinner with the slow zoom into the room and the close ups of them eating was amazing.

The doll from the original Child's Play looks better than this one. Really annoying anytime they try to do a jump scare with Chucky in this movie because they very clearly have a doll that is just for show and one that is for animatronics.

Dumb as hell and has some unnecessarily shoddy effects work, but otherwise looks good, has some tense moments, and I enjoyed it probably as much as the first one.

It had interesting cinematography right up until Chucky really starts doing things, at which point everything gets pretty mediocre. But between the bizarre flashback sequence, the first forty-five minutes or so, and Brad Dourif just having a lot of fun, it was an alright time.

Klasik Chucky filmi.

After a pretty decent first half of setup and character work, it devolves into a complete piece of shit. Honestly I'm rating it even worse than it probably deserves because it squandered so much.

The only thing worse than a bad movie is a movie who doesn't even try. This movie is the movie equivalent of a 40 degree day. To quote the great Stringer Bell "Nobody give a fuck about 40. Nobody remember 40, and y'all niggas is giving me way too many 40-degree days!"

I thought it started out pretty well. The dinner scene definitely got my interest piqued. Unfortunately, at some point the film went into full-on "too stupid to live" mode. Also would have been better without the "psychopath-explains-his-reason-for-killing-you" segment.

This was chock full of winks and nods to fans of the Chucky films which is admirable. Chucky is one of those "franchises" which keeps becoming goofier and over the top as time goes on. In this one he's literally being mailed to people like a trojan horse doll assassin so he can do evil things like hack people's heads apart in gory detail. This will satisfy horror gorehounds and horror doll genre enthusiasts but I felt bored for long stretches. The ending and epilogue was painfully stupid too.

Surprisingly good. It was a lot of fun to watch. It started off a little slow, but the longer the movie went, the better it got. Caught off guard with how the story went, especially towards the end. Nailed it! Well worth the time and watch if you are fan of the series.

I thought it was pretty decent. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone who wasn't already a fan of the series, but as a fan, I enjoyed it. Mancini still isn't a genius or anything, but he has improved in his writing and directing. I appreciated the character development, even if it wasn't particularly sophisticated. The film employs the retroactive franchise continuity that's very popular in films today, and I liked what they did, for the most part. Overall, it was a good entry in the series.

Going back to it's old roots and not getting too campy this film succeeds in being fun. Brad Dourif is back to his old tricks doing the voice of Chucky and even playing as his own human self. I loved how the movie was contained in just one large house. I also love that the main character is confined to a wheel chair to give off that helpless feeling to the audience even more than you would expect. I wish there were a few more one liners and the ending was weak but I got my money's worth!

Tt's like an amateur film but final moments are surprisingly interesting. like final after final; reminded me of lotr: rotk. even post credit scene has its' twist. the whole idea is well but the film is not. neverending cliches, stupid long zooms; not even film school students use them. it's a shame for Don Mancini. The only nice thing is Fiona Dourif. The worst thing is Chucky and CGI. Don't worry Don, we always have Seed of Chucky. Oh my god, Kenny, they killed Chucky! You bastards!
